First released by US label Pure Metal in 1989, original copies of this heavy\/power\/speed metal classic have been hard (and expensive!) to find in any format for many years. 30 years on, all the members of the band having been tracked down, Mystical Thieves is being made readily available again on vinyl and CD, remastered for a superior metal experience.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eEverybody knows Lightforce as the predecessor to Mortification, the Australian death\/thrash band fronted by Lightforce bassist Steve Rowe. However, Lightforce was a totally different beast, heavily influenced by the early 80’s metal of bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Rowe’s driving bass lines emulating Steve Harris, combined with Murray Adams’ adept guitar playing and Errol Willenberg’s technical drumming are a homage to the bands that inspired them, while still putting their own spin on the style. The quality musicianship on display here didn’t go unnoticed either, seeing them gain support slots for the likes of Stryper, Whitecross and Leviticus, but this line-up didn’t see the year out and their follow-up album, though written, was never recorded. What most people don’t know is the fact that after the song ‘Is It A Crime’ from the Thunder From The Mountain album was licensed to Myrrh Records (Word) to be used on their “Twelve New Faces” album from which the song ended up dominating radio airplay charts, Myrrh began courting Zion, Image Records and David Zaffiro to become Myrrh‘s first and only metal band and have David as producer. Image and Myrrh could not come to terms however and Myrrh went on to sign Holy Soldier and have David Zaffiro produce them instead. The rest is history. Had Image and Myrrh come to an agreement, Holy Soldier probably wouldn’t have been signed to Myrrh. It pleases the band to know that they were actually picked first even though a deal could not be made. Zion disbanded in 1992 after enjoying a very successful +11 years of rocking the land and releasing several ep’s and demo’s and finally the cd “Thunder From The Mountain” which had five top ten hit singles! 2004 found the boys in the band reuniting in Portland Oregon in August on the 15th year anniversary of the recording sessions of “Thunder”. It's a little slower but it's a bit dark and heavy with minor chords showing that Bloodgood is not only good at their craft but they're also good at creating new music that doesn't sound rehashed older tunes. You'll understand what I mean when you hear the bridge of Child On  Earth. I'll let you just experienced that yourself. What would Oz Fox bring to the mix – will it have any hints of the Stryper sound? The questions bounced through my mind. Well, I would describe it as very much full-on BLOODGOOD, mixing in some of the best of all previous releases. Metal lovers should be happier that, overall, this album would fall on the heavier side, but not so much on the faster-paced side of some older tracks. Production is top notch, making every instrument shine (and no, it does not hint of Stryper at all). The sound is not at all thin like some of the older albums tended to feel; it packs a low-end punch, giving it a massive feel in comparison. Les still has the pipes to pull this off, and the band has lost nothing in the skills department. I feel this may be one of their heavier offerings, mainly because of the ultra-chunky riffs layered with the mega-heavy bottom end of the bass\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eBloodgood was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2010. The result is actually a loss in high frequencies, and increase in distortion as the groove moves to the center. BUT, if we spin the disk at 45rpm we now have a 35% increase in groove velocity at any point on the disk. This is a huge advantage! When recording resumed in December of that year, pianist Wynton Kelly and drummer Jimmy Cobb replaced Flanagan and Taylor, completing the rhythm section of the Miles Davis group of that time. The main focus on the LP, however, consists of Coltrane's tenor solos. All seven pieces issued on the album are compositions by the saxophonist. Giant Steps was John Coltrane's debut on the Atlantic label and confirmed his importance in the jazz scene.
